Jodi Carlton, LPC, MEd
First and foremost a MOM, but also a professional counselor
Although I have over 15 years experience as a counselor and professional educator, first and foremost, I’m a mom. Because I have a daughter with Asperger’s (High Functioning Autism – HFA), I am in a unique position to share about Asperger’s from a professional AND a personal perspective. I teach continuing education workshops about Asperger’s to healthcare providers, and a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia where I work with many individuals and families who live with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders). Aspie Spot was created to provide a space where anyone with an interest in Asperger’s, which is now called high functioning autism, can find useful information, suggestions, support. I also created this site to share about my own experiences as a mom of a teen Aspie. It’s a wild ride sometimes! I would also love to hear from any of you who would like to share your own journey! You can reach me at Jodi@HelpingHeartsCounseling.com or 770-373-7310.
Aspie, High Functioning Autism, Asperger's (it's all the same!)
I am a high schooler who has Asperger’s, which means I’m an “aspie.” I have had various challenges over the years, and I want to share the strategies I use to face them. I hope to help other people learn more about what life is like as an Aspie. Writing our book “Bye Bye Bully” has been one of the most challenging, but exciting things I’ve ever done! I look forward to getting it published and I hope it will help other Aspie’s learn to cope with bullying if it happens to them.
